Your Career

A typical animated film requires 700 to 800 animators. Of the 30,000 animation studios around the world, 70 percent have a yearly turnover of $1 million US. Choose to work for large or small production houses in the 3D animation, broadcast design, visual effects and gaming sectors. Employers may include Ubisoft, IDT (formerly DKP), Intelligent Creatures, Red Rover, The Astound Group, Core Digital and CBC.

Our Program

The curriculum for this program is designed by artists, for experienced traditional artists and animators who want to either develop or transition their skill sets for employment in the 3D and visual effects industries. You will learn relevant industry workflow, so you can make a seamless transition into a real production environment.

Courses focus on both the conceptual and the technical, as students learn to master visual techniques to bring ideas to life. Participants develop skills in modeling, texturing, and lighting, as well as in visual effects, compositing, and digital cinematography. At the same time, students learn the technical skills required in today's competitive 3D and visual effects industries. Graduates possess the proper balance of technical skills and aesthetic development - able to create, as well as produce stunning 3D productions.

This program is not OSAP eligible.

Class size is limited to 24 students, so apply early.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must have a strong design and/or artistic background
  • Knowledge of either digital design software or a 3D computer animation program would be advantageous
  • Interested in learning and applying today's newest technologies, computer literate, and solid knowledge of Windows graphical interface
  • Applicants will be required to attend an assessment interview.


The 2009/2010 fee for 30 weeks is

- international $8,000.
